II Biennial Seminar
14-15 May 2020
EspaiCaixa Auditorium. Girona
The second seminar on landscape and image will be dedicated to video games. This event is organised with the Centre for Image Research and Diffusion (CRDI) of the Girona City Council, and this year also with the active participation of the Institute of Cultural Companies of the Ministry of Culture.
Video games are becoming more and more present in everyday life and virtual landscapes are the protagonists. If recently, entertainment or storytelling was the main function, we now know of its enormous potential as tools for territorial knowledge, mediation and action, or its role in the education of future landscape professionals, especially through "serious games". That is why we want to ask ourselves what landscape's values can offer in the videogames of the future, when more and more the landscape ceases to be a mere scene and becomes a generator of new experiences, emotions and meanings.
Just one week before the seminar, on 8 May, a game jam will be held at the Mercè Cultural Centre in Girona. It will be a meeting of people specialised in different disciplines in both video game and landscape sectors, with the aim of creating a conceptual prototype for a videogame applied to landscape management and planning.
