Country/region:

Netherlands

Year:

2009

Scope of application:

Supramunicipal

Description:

The landscape development plan arises from the desire to coordinate six towns in the vicinity of Utrecht to perform an exhaustive study of the surrounding landscape, identifying its values, problems and opportunities, but especially to establish an agreed and well-defined programme of actions for the surrounding landscape. Specifically, the plan defines the stakeholders involved, the links to pre-existing planning and the funding necessary to carry out each action envisaged. This is one of the most remarkable features of the landscape plan, given its level of specificity and detail on the scale of each town and the landscape areas and settings defined in the previous assessment. Alongside the action programme, it establishes the role of the landscape coordinator, which must be provided for in each town of the area to implement the plan. The landscape development plan comes with elaborate maps that detail the elements studied in the assessment and shows where the actions of the action programme are located, both over the entire area where the plan is implemented and in each town.
